Wow, that definitely does suck. At least they pay attention though. I would call them out on it, definitely.
hey this is on the tops FNL list twice? the website has been really messed up for me lately
Looks like you'll b getting a hell of a sweet 16 party. Like another bar...i mean bat (....unless the OP secretly is a transexual with a chood, in that case YDI cause you cant have sex with yourself) mitzvah. And if your parents dont... beat their ass. At least now all your friends will always think you look older than u really are. which means no complements on how "young" you look.
yeah im calling BS on this one. you need birth certificates for almost everything. daycare enrollment, school enrollment, and surely this cant be the first time you get a passport, right? and how could a parent (especially the mother) not remember the day she had her baby on? i mean thats a HUGE deal....
this is fake.
see theres quite a few by this person Noname.
surely they cant all be true.
in this one Noname is 16.
But in another one of hers she has a thirteen year old daughter.
Child when she was three ? must have been the words youngest parent.
Hey, Kurmen. I just submitted an FNL under the name "Noname." No "username unavailable" errors or anything. Log out and try it yourself.
I wonder if the OP was born on a day that's considered bad luck in some cultures? Maybe that's why her parents had her celebrate on a different day.
This is a pretty terrible excuse for top FNL...More than likely fake to begin with, nobody is actually that fucking stupid to not know the day their kid was born...And to never look at it once in 16 years?? Not likely, fucking fail FNL
Ok I have a very important question... Is Noname a guy or girl? Also how old are there!? Because they have this quote issued under a woman and then she's got another quote under as a guy who said their girlfriend dumped them because she wanted someone more like their Edward (Twilight Edward) Idk look up the quote it's issued under a man then she says here she's only like what 16? She's got another one issued as a mom with a daughter. The quote goes something like this, "Today, my daughter asked me when I first had sex, I told her 22 and she replying "haha beat ya!" She's 13..." So ya Some of these are fake... But which ones? :0 Btw don't get all pissy at me, don't start whining I'm just stating some facts so ya... Idk you tell me.
Today, I received my passport in the mail. I checked the birthdate. Turns out my parents have been celebrating my birthday on the correct day for 16 years. MLIA
Jesus titty-fucking Christ, ppl.. Where does it say the parents don't know his birth date?..
Perhaps, they do know and are just keeping it from him for certain reasons..
(FYL, Do you have a brother you don't know about?.. haha.. Stupid question, I know..)
How the fuck does the airline know and ya parents don't..... birth certificate....
OMFG!!! that happened to me 2!!! 2 years ago My sister comes up to and says that my birthday is 2 days befor what ive been celebratin it on... meaning for 12 yrs my parents and e/1 has been celebrating it on the wrong date. No wonder none of my wishes came true. and all my mom could say was "Oops, i forgot"
wow this doesn't have anything to do with the statement itself but who r the retards that say ydi. He didn't deserve anything it sucks for him so for the people that said he deserved it are just stupid
wow, that sucks.
how could your parents not remember when your birthday is..
shouldn't you have realized this before?
Imagine if they hadn't been celebrating your birthday at all! Maybe they left you at the hospital after you were born, and the day they went back and got you after changing their minds was when they celebrated your birthday.
why would they read their own certificate? nobody would assuming they know their own fucking birthday
your a fucktard. congrats
what's wrong with you #3?! why would anyone expect their birthday to be wrong after sixteen years? you moron...
Maybe there's a reason. Perhaps they changed it to be after they were married, or something like that.
#3 before you call someone dumb, it would be wise to learn the difference between "you're" and "your".
As for the birthday mix-up, it isn't your fault. Not many people check their birth certificates and I know a guy who doesn't even know his exact birth date because he was an abandoned child. At least now you know.
dude, that sucks
no worries, up until i was 13 years old, my parents said my bday was on june 13th
then one day, i found my birth certificate and it said june 11th on it, so i showed my dad, and he was silent and said, "bring me your passport." a full minute later of just staring, he goes, "oh well, ok ur birthday is the 11th."
and we still dont celebrate it =/ we never did. so be happy ur family celebrated your fake bday!
My dad has to ask me every time we fill out online documentation, such as the FAFSA. People are busy these days, many details, even ones we would consider important, slip through the cracks.
at least it was just your birthday. i found out my mom just made up a guy's name to put as my father; she has no idea who it really was.
I had a friend in high school whose parents got her birthday wrong, too. I think they were off by about a week.
My mom calls me on the day before my birthday every year. I used to get really upset and we would have arguments that would escalate into fights because she swears she's right. All my documents and my sister's, who were around when I was born say she's not. A few year's ago I finally just gave up and graciously receive the birthday wishes a day early. Deep down I still hope she'll call on the right day one year.
Maybe - if they celebrate it one day earlier - you were born round midnight or later so on the next day, but they remember the date when your mom's had to go to the hospital to deliver you! It's like when you're at a party and you still call "yesterday" "today" cause it's past midnight but you didn't go to bed so for you it's still the same day.
Well my mom's birth certificate shows a different date than her actual b-day because there had been problems with the office (that's responsible with birth certificates etc) when she was born. Maybe there was a similar problem with your case?
lol 16 years later you find out the documents were wrong... I assume they are, your parents wouldn't be mistaken?
Like another person said, my dad has to ask me every time he fills out any information for me. He forgot my birthday a couple of times and is always asking my how to spell simple words, like in the name of the school I go to. Most people call it by an acronym, so for the longest time he didn't know what the last letter stood for (I use the first two words when I refer to it).
Same thing happened to me. Off by two days - I found out when I moved schools at age ten. The principal called me down to the office and asked about the discrepancy between the forms and my birth certificate. I said, I guess I don't know when my birthday is. . .
My mother can't remember my brothers' birthdays. I always have to tell her what day they're on. If I couldn't remember, they'd celebrate their birthdays on a different day every year.
Some families celebrate birthday a day earlier to "give farewells" to the year of life that has just passed.
I was filling out paperwork for my wife's passport and got her birth year wrong. The mistake made her 3 years older. We noticed the mistake after we picked up the passport and it was too late to complain because we had to go out of the country the next day.
That's not that bad. My friend has been celebrating his birthday on the wrong day for 20 years when his mother finally told him it was really two days earlier. Apparently the paperwork had gone in a couple days late. He still celebrates his delayed birthdate.
Hahaha. my friend "Crystalyn", who is 14, just found out her name is actually spelled "Crystalynn"
#2 -- you're a dick.
I'm so sorry about this situation. :/ How far off were your parents from the actual date?
Well maybe something special happened (besides your birth) on the other day they were celebrating and they decided they liked it better. Maybe it was their favorite number? Is there a plausible excuse? Lol.
That is incredible. How can a mother not know when your real birthday is?! That day should be something that's etched into a mothers brain forever.
I don't see what the big deal is. Sure, it sounds kind of messed up, but at least the birthday was celebrated, and your parents clearly care about you even if they got the date wrong. They couldn't have been off by that much? Surely it was in the realm of your birthday? Besides, you yourself had never checked your exact birth date in sixteen years, why should your parents have done so?
congratz, ur life sucks most of all ppl here.. xD
but.. thats rlly weird though, didnt they go check when u were born or so? :P
It happens, but it still sucks. When my sister's friend was trying to get her license, she had to go get a copy of her birth certificate from another city because her parents had lost it years before. She found out that she was actually a year younger then she thought she was. It was bad. Her dad also raped her little sister too.... really awful parents.
who cares if you've been celebrating your bday at some other time than your actual birthdate. it's the thought that matters, not the day. oh boo-hoo, maybe some folks should unpack their balls from their purses, or grow a pair.
my mom insisted my birthday was on the 21st for years, i had to reorder my birth certificate to prove to her that it was actually on the 20th!
my parents put the wrong birthdate in my baby book... they also signed me up for preschool with the wrong birthdate. thanks mom and dad.
my mother's legal birthday is somehow different from her real birthday. she knows. we know. she insists we celebrate both.
That sort of happened to my dad. His official birth certificate says his bday is June 27th when it's actually June 23rd. However, my dad was born in India in the late 50's...
I feel your pain to an extent....I was adopted and my parents had my wrong birthday until i was 7 and met my real parents....not to mention my real mom still thinks im older than i really am... i have my birth cert now she thinks im 26 im 23.......ahhh got to love drugs.....
Sooo.. Are you going to celebrate your actual birthday or stick to the birthdate your parents have been going by for so long?
Hehe, my parents believed that I was born in the wrong place for about 10 years.
Maybe you were born late at night so they didn't actually get the birth certificate processed until the next day. The same thing happened to me, my birth certificate is dated the 11th, but I was born the 10th
That's suuuuper lame. I would never have thought this had (allegedly) happened to so many people.
My ruling? I think you should get TWO birthdays a year for each year your parents were wrong.
Next case.
How are you 16 and never seen your birth certificate?
I agree this really sucks but haven't you ever needed it to enroll in school, apply for a job, apply for a learner's permit for driving, etc?
The same thing happened to a friend of mine. Turns out she was adopted and the "birthday" she had been celebrating was actually the day her parents brought her home from the hospital. A few days AFTER the real birthday printed on her birth certificate.
Maybe your not really their kid, and the police brought you home.. could be worse
Birth certificates have mistakes on them all the time. I was born 2:49 AM but my certificate says 2:49 PM. I know it's wrong because my mom said it was a 6-hour labor that she went into while my parents were at a movie the previous evening.
What's the big deal?
This whole idea that birthdays are important at all is just something that's come about this century. And in the grand scheme of things it's a pretty arbitrary date which we don't remember and have no control over anyway. You got a party every year, shouldn't that be enough?
omg wow
hopefuLLy theyy fixed that
i wud bee super mad if that happpened to me !
its okay, my cousin still thinks his bday is on marh, when everyone else knows that was a fake and its really in january,... hes now 24 LOL.
My grandparents marriage certificate says that they got married 9 months to the day before my Dad was born. Didn't waste any time...
My Mom always gets My Brother's Birthday wrong, cause she went into labor on the 16th and that was the last newpaper she saw.... he was born on the 18th
Hmm... Is it possible that your parents could be in hiding?
BTW, is your name Adam Farmer?
My dad doesn't know how to spell my name....
Every year I get a card that says "Gail" instead of "Gale"......
I'm 19.
Were you born in the sticks? My grandparents had my mom in their village, didn't get a birth cert until 19 days later. Since the Communist government decided that that day was her DOB, all her documents are 19 days off of her true Bday.
my parents always think that my birthday is on the 19th because my older brother is on feb. 19th but i am on jan 18th and i always have to remind them when it is.
Birth certificates are wrong all the time. Did you check this with your parents?
My name was supposed to be Kelli-Ann, as one name, and then my last name. No middle name. But they messed up so now I am Kelli and Ann is my middle name. Oh well.
Yeah, my name was supposed to be Elianna, but the nurse misspelled it and now my name is Elliana.
Also, my brother's middle name just got dropped off when they filled out his birth certificate.
haha #71 - i am just the opposite. my dad - for the longest time - thought my birthday was on the 18th.. we never celebrate it on the day, just on the weekend closest to it due to a hectic work life and what not. before, he used to think my birthday was on the 1st instead of the 19th - the first was my sisters. he didnt even know my birth year... just shows how busy people are these days
@ #6, I think his real birthday is on his certificate, it's just the parents might have forgotten, looked at the certificate, and read it wrong.
My mom works as a secretary at an elementary school and there are kids there that don't know their own birthdays because their parents don't want to celebrate it. She said sometimes it's a religious thing, but there are a few that just don't care because they're trashy. So really, my mom and their parents are the only ones that know their birthdays!
Thats ok dude, i grew up with my grandparents. they didn't tell me when my birthday was until i was 13. I never had a birthday party. ever in my life.
It's okay, my parents still sometimes say I'm ten. I'm fifteen and taller than either of them.
I think this is a very possible situation. I know that my mother gave me the middle name of "Renea", however, on my birth certificate it reads "Renae", and my school files it is "Renee". It really is a hassle to deal with, so I can imagine what a wrong birthday could be like.
That is some way finding out that for years you have been celebrating the wrong day. At least you found out, so now it can be right on your tombstone. That is looking on the brightside!
I was adopted by relatives who were Fundamentalist Christians. They didn't even celebrate my birthday. Or Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, or any other day. My happiest times growing up were going AWAY to summer camp for a week. Then when I was 15, I was out on the street. FNL
When my mom got her birth certificate (which she ordered to get a passport) she discovered she's been spelling her name wrong for the past 40 odd years. She's Cliela but Clela on her birth certif.
Wrong birthday is better than wrong sex on the passport. When i was young and got my passport done, they wrote my sex to be male, maybe because I had short hair in the picture. lol.
this had to have happened in some random redneck small town in tenessee or somewhere like that lmaooo
My aunt texted me 'Happy Birthday! I love you!' A month later.
It took a lot of convincing that I was not born in September.
Let's hope your parents don't need so much convincing.
you should ask them about it, because sometimes the birth certificate comes after the date of birth. And sometimes the birth certificate says another date of birth -- my friend's birth certificate says he's a year older than he is ?
i would like to say that it is more likely that paperwork is wrong because parents care that kind of stuff. however, it kills the point of your entry. so for this site's sake, FYL
Aw, that sucks.
My mum named me Cooper-Alyssa Jayne but on my birth certificate is says Copper Alyssa, so thanks to someone's screw up, and her laziness to change it, I'm named after a chemical element, yay.
It's also says I have a different father to my brother which isn't true, we are in fact full brother and sister and unfortunately have the same douche bag father.
But like a lot of people have said it's probably not your parents fault.
bahahahhahah. same thing happened with my aunt only with her, they had the wrong name on her birth certificate.
hahahahahahhahhahahhahahahahahahahaahhaaahhahahaahaha. im sorry bt that so great.
i'd use that for the rest of my life.
That is really funny, sucks too, but is funny. My Gramps had his Birth certificate screwed up by the government, he was was born 2 years before he was...aaaaaaa.....born... lol O-o
for everyone who asked how far off his parents were, does anyone ever even come back and respond to the comments made on their FNL?
Wait like how close were they to ur real b-day...they might have like had u at midnight...or u were adopted who knows!
My dad's almost 47 and his parents have no idea what day his birthday really is. They just celebrate it on Nov. 22.
At least they celebrate your birthday.
"Dad, it's my BIRTHDAY"
"You don't have a birthday son. Go clean the garage."
"Oh, okay."
Lol wow I would have been super mad.
Makes me want to go check my birth certificate.
(o.O) it seems like after 16 years you wouldn't want to change the day you celebrate your birthday. it would feel weird
Hey, now you can make your parents celebrate your "birthday" and the actual day you were born to make up for their lack of brains.
Happy birthday! :)
at least you've got an excuse for why your parents don't celebrate your real birthday. i'd rather have good, fake b-days than real, bad ones
That's not FNL so much as LOL.
I've had a similar situation. My mother went into the hospital and was in labor (dialating etc) about 32 hours. She had me around three am the next morning, so that was my birthday.
Sometimes, time differences or labor times alter the date of birth. Also, I agree with, I believe waaaaaay up there, too lazy to hunt it back down, the office could have been having difficulties as well. Your birthday is still important to your family, so kudos! You got that much, now all you can do is just laugh it off. When you celebrate and when it happens doesn't really matter.
Kind of like how if you have a big family, and you celebrate thanksgiving twice or something cuz of two families (Such as if you have two grandparents on both sides (mother and father), Christmas (or Hanuka (Sorry for the horrible spelling) or Kwanza). It's not really important what day it is, so long as it's recognized.
Still.
LOL dude that's awesomesauce.
For your parents penance I would demand 16 years worth of birthday gifts on your upcoming B'day.
RC3Welly/Post #140
i read that post. that's your own fault. drunk or not you should have been smart enough to use protection. yeah your life sucks but it's your own fault it does.
Lol. I know my mother's birthday on the birth certificate is in August but her real birthday is is March. I just know that the paperwork was filed late, and they didn't want to be fined for that, so they just said, yeah my mom was just born. She always knew though, so it wasn't really a FNL for her. :D
that sucks!!!!! my parents told me I was turning five two years in a row because they didnt think i was reading for first grade.
Wow, dude that sucks big time. First time I applied for a job my social didn't match my name. Turns out I really had no identity at all....I got a new number and everything.
Dude, i'm sorry, but if I were you I would totally kill myself, just kidding, please don't take the litteral. I don't want to get charged with homocide.
#3 has a valid point. you are a little bit stupid.
and to #140 - wtf, don't blame her. you're the one who made the choice to go in raw.
my mother has been getting my sister's birthday wrong for 22 years. they still get into arguments every year.
by the way.. your FNL is used as an example on the Fmylife.com Wikipedia page.
#55- why the hell would she need her birth certificate to apply for a job? That is what a social security card is for, at least in America. Your parents take care of the birth certificate when you enroll in elementary school, so you wouldn't really have a need to see your birth certificate until you are getting your driver's license. Even then, I doubt if everyone reads their birth certificate when they pull it out. You just assume there is nothing new for you to learn from reading it. It makes sense that you would not notice a discrepancy on your birth certificate until you notice it on your passport-a passport is new documentation that you would read over to make sure everything is correct.
To all those calling the OP ungrateful: sure, it is fantastic that the parents at least celebrated a birthday every year. But it is sad to think that your parents forgot the day you were born on--a day that is supposed to be one of the most memorable days of their lives.
yea i guess thats a bummer but doesnt really mean ur life is really F$%*d'up. my parents named me alex and every legal document says alex EXCEPT my birth certificate... it says ALEXIS ... which is a girls name, and im very much a boy. u neither deserve it , nor is it really f'd up. as for celebrating bdays. my mom forgot my bday when i was about... 14. she doesnt remember anymore nor does she ever mention it.
i think everyone needs to stop submitting their own FNL on comment pages... lol. this is about the op...
that stinks. and to everyone who posted "how could you not see that omg u didn't need to submit it for school or whatever?" my mom didn't give me my birth certificate till i went for my drivers license at 18. every state is different. sometimes the kids aren't allowed to submit paperwork to school.
That really sucks, dude. How uncaring could your parents be when they celebrate your birthday on the wrong day for that long? ._.
Same exact thing happened to me when I was 10. Turns out, the birth certificate is signed before the date is printed on it, and somehow the hospital screwed up which day I was born on. We tried to fill out the paperwork to get it officially changed, but when 9/11 happened, they made the paperwork 1000x harder to complete. Now you need to get the doctor who birthed you to sign it.
dude your parents must have gotten high off their asses the day they brought you home..lol!!!! I'm sorry though man, def a FNL...
Your parents tripped out on LSD while you were being born. For sure, haha. Guess the epidural is nothing compared to LSD. what are you guys cavemen... no calenders?
hah, i'd consider this more a fail. and it's pretty pathetic if your father cannot spell your name. i pity you.
#12 --- thats messed sorry. but that sucks ur parents dont even no ur birthday hahahahahahahaha
My grandmother always celebrated her birthday on February 22nd...until her 65th birthday, when she had to get a passport to go on a international trip. It turns out that her ACTUAL birthday is January 23rd...!
yo that suks, but dont worry, ur not alone. up till i was 6 years old, my parents told me i was born in 93. one day, i did the math and it didnt add up, so i went to our safe and looked at my birth certificate. my parents had been telling me i was born in the wrong year for 6 years >_
wow.. if theyre my parents then i would def disown them.. forget MY birthday.. after pushing u out i would def remember..
Yeah, I can't say that I'd expect most mothers to be too intent on remembering the day of the birth of their child, a day racked with pain and stress and agony.
Add into the mix that the mother is usually hopped up on epidurals and other meds (when actually going into labor) and may have only a partial idea of what's going on and it's not an event that's easily remembered.
At least you're not like the guy who got his birth certificate eaten by a goat, so he has no idea how old he is.
damn, i thought it was bad that we all spelled my name wrong for 16 or so years till it came time to bring my birth certificate to the dmv for a drivers permit.
damn, i thought it was bad that we all spelled my name wrong for 16 or so years till it came time to bring my birth certificate to the dmv for a drivers permit and I take a closer look like w-t-f...FNL
Celebrate your parents birthday on the wrong day for the rest of their lives. If they refuse, blackmail them.
Amazing!!! I thought I was the only one whose parents didn't know their birthday!! But when I turned 16 and found out, I confronted my parents, and my mother said, "They must have it wrong. They must've lost your file when the hospital burnt down." --- The hospital is across the street from my apartment.
Wait a sec...to the 5000 ppl who thought he deserved this, i ask, HOW!!????!!
I would kill my parents. I mean, how did THEY get the date wrong? They were there & knew what was happening.
Congratulations for having the most fucked up thing on here. If I were you, I'd wait until you're 'next' birthday, and let them throw a party, and in the middle of it ask 'But today's not my birthday? Tomorrow/yesterday is/was', and truly embarrass them.
how the fuck does he deserve this? like i DONT UNDERSTAND WHATS WRONG WITH PEOPLE
i would make them give me 16 birthday presents for everyone birthday they got wrong
Hey, at least your birthday was celebrated. This would be worse if you actually "turned" 21 like months after you actually were. If they've been celebrating it early, I say don't worry about it - you'll be 21 before you actually are, and that would be an epic win.
My brother and I were adopted from Korea and dropped off by some crazy stork in NW PA (Pa'Tucky) and always felt someone just threw a dart or blindly chose two date for my and my brother's birthday. We are two days and two years apart. Or maybe my parents only procreated in the summer, not sure...
how do people say you deserved that?
the only way i can reconcile this is that there must be people who just scroll through FNL and click YDTO on every post
A health card from one hospital says that for me too, so its probably your parents who are right. :)
on the bright side you could say they still at least celebrated. but either way that sucks i'm sorry
WOW your parents are really STUPID! They dont even remember when you were born...... thats really something
and #2 haha although it is kinda true
My mom's birthday is different on my birth cert from my brother's... by TWO years. lol.
Ouch! Can you imagine how bad they'll feel if you tell them? On the other hand, it would be better to tell them now than for them to find out in another 10 years!
Could be worse, at least they were celebrating it on the same wrong day for 16 years. So they remembered the wrong one after only messing it up once, not so bad... right?
Right?
ouchhhhh that's ok just celebrate their birthdays on the wrong days for the rest of their lives from now on! that's what i would do ahahahaha
Ooohh!! Boo hoo. They celebrated your wrong birthday. That's not anywhere close to being bad enough for an FNL.
That must really suck. Oh well, at least now you know you wasted more days of your life then you thought. Just celebrate it normally from now on, or, celebrate it like you always did. Your birthday is your birthday but when you celebrate it doesn't matter, people celebrate their birthday weeks from their actual birthday because its just conveniant.
i don't understand why people could say they deserve that one.
they definitely don't.
Dude, that sucks..
My mom once told me that I "should trust the ones close to me rather than the government." Doesn't apply here.
Oh my god, that really sucks. Yeah, how off WERE your parents? Were you, like, really mad about that? Wow I feel so bad that's terrible yet hilarious =)
OMG! i so would've been angry with them. Wooooow. i hope you had a strong conversation with them ,
omg! that's tragic. i hope you expressed their anger at them. i know i'd be REALLLLLLLLY mad! ask them what they were thinking when they decided to celebrate their birthday on their wrong day. as frustrated as you probably are, there could potentially be a reason behind it.
I'm sorry! If it helps I'm 19 and my dad still asks, "Now, which day is your birthday?" Usually he's off by five days. And he always thinks my sisters is April 14,tax day. Her birthday is on the 21st.
Maybe you're not their baby.
Sorry, that's probably not what you wanted to hear :S
I AGREE WITH NUMBER 257
that would be so cool :D :D :D you've got to admit
that if you would be able to switch families now
IT WOULD BE SO AWESOME!
That's not possible - you have to register for schools with your birth certificate....good try though
Lol my grandma couldn't marry until she changed her birth certificate. Someone accidentally wrote "male" on it, so they said they couldn't marry two guys..
#260 - they could have turned in the birth certificate without looking at it closely
You're not really that "effed". They still celebrated a birthday. Anyway, the passport date, I'm pretty sure comes from your birth certificate. In a lot of places, they actually get the date on the birth certificate wrong, for various reasons. Either that, or your birth certificate is a fake. If you're an immigrant, there's actually a good chance of that. (No offense to anyone.) I would ask your parents about it. If the birth certificate is right, now you just get two birthdays! At least, that's they way I would play the situation.
FYL.
definitely undeserved, you say your 16, I didn't get my first formal identification that requires a birth certificate until I was 16, and it's not like I ever scrutinized my birth certificate either, so until I saw it verbatum on my driver's license, I guess I didn't really know that my birthday was correct either!
so yup, FYL.
Ugh, you FAIL. How did you get registered into school with the wrong birth date? Oh wait...you probably didn't go to school seeing you don't know your birthday.
i actually knew someone thats birth certificate was wrong when they went back and checked hospital records and everything.
wtf kind of parents celebrate your bday on the wrong day of the year
are they sick?
what us wrong with them?
this truly sucks
im sorry
I would've started celebrating my birthday on the certificate date and when someone said something like my parents, I would say, "I thought you knew it was my birthday, my certificate has your signature."
That sucks. And seriously, I don't get why people say you deserve it. Some of you people are douchebags.
I was born on easter and so every easter my uncle wishes me happy birthday, even though easter is on a different day every year.
To #3.... do you go around reading your birth certificate? Cause i do not know anyone who does.
Umm, I guess this makes you think, "Were my parents stoned or drunk while I was being conceived", Maybe you should check that out! FYL
heh, thats pretty unfortunate... at least you didn't suffer any physical harm like some people on this site. Also just wanted to point out that a significant portion of the top FNLs happened in February, which, i'm guessing, makes it the worst month of the year...or something
i don't understand how this is so horrific. i mean, yes, it's completely retarded and totally sucks, but how the hell did it get 200,000 confirmations and 8,600 YDIs? Come on, #1 FNL, seriously? The guy whose dick got grabbed by his teacher (#2) tooootally trumps this.
at least you have parents who want to celebrate your birthday. think about the people born on the awkward day in a leap year. they hardly ever get to celebrate their birthday on the 'right' day
so im in the library trying to write a paper and of course im procrastinating, you'd be proud. i wanted to check if you were still the top FNL, and you are, so im procrastinating more. im listening to manu chao.
My friend is 13 and just figured out her parents have been spelling her name wrong her whole life so the name on her birth certificate is different from how she normally spells it
i would be so pissed if that happened to me. i wouldnt talk to my parents for months! and question... are your parents mentally retarded or something?
OMG that sucks! Your parents sound like jack asses. Wow, that must be so confusing now! Are you gonna celebrate ur b-day on ur REAL b-day or on the FAKE b-day ur used to?
Just look at it this way.... You can now celebrate your birthday twice every year
aww, man, that totally sucks..... but i admit... i laughed a tiny bit.... but hey, your mom was in labor and your dad was probably freaking out.... how are they suppose to take a moment to realize what day is is???
Look on the brightside now you have excuse to not get your parents a birthday present. For the next 16 years. Technically you can say you have gotten a birthday present.
shouldnt you have seen it on your birth certificate since your 16 (you need a birth certificate to get a learners permit)
That's virtually impossible! There's no way that any of you (you or your parents) could have gotten away with registering you for a passport, school, job, whatever, without showing a birth certificate at least a few times. Then you'd have to write your birth date somewhere and sometime over those 16 years someone would have noticed that the two didn't match up. It's a good FNL and I don't mean to be an asshole, just I don't think it deserves to be the top one if it's a made up story. Unless you, you're family, and everyone around you are a bunch of morons and you are accepting that...In which case FYL indeed.
wow does are some awesome parenting skills eh :D *sarcasm to the very core* and man you are freaking brilliant!*still sarcasm* how many brain cells you have, do you even have 1, do you even know what they are -.-'' and you should make sure your parents are really your parents o.o''
Why is everyone like 'how did you not know?' I never needed to look at my birth certificate when I was 16. My mom enrolled me, cause minors can't enroll themselves. You can't get a license or permit UNTIL you're 16. Most places won't hire people under 18. So, I highly doubt there'd be alot of situations where you would be forced to see your birth certificate.
But that really does suck. How can your parents NOT know the day they popped you out? It's not like its a painless short thing. Labor can take DAYS and yea...passing a watermelon out of your...yea, doesn't seem like something anyone can forget. Lmfao
At least your parents celebrated your birthday at all. Really, what's all that angst about? You have your birth certificate, go get your passport fixed. Tell your parents they've been celebrating your birthday on the wrong day. Have a good laugh!
#321. That's the point...Even if YOU didn't have to look at the birth certificate SOMEBODY would..In your case your mom.
Oh so what?
It's not like they forgot your birthday for 16 years. Still celebrated it.
All you need is some white out for the baby books.
hahaha #3 called someone else a dumbass and a moron, and he used "you're" instead of "your"
xD
What the hell is up with you "It could be worse" people? It can always be worse; that's not the point of FYLs. IT's just a way to vent and get a good laugh while you're at it. I'd rather get a belated birthday call every year before getting my birthday celebrated on the wrong day every year.
Okay my name is Dearbhla,(it's irish, pronounced Derv-la,and means daughter of the poet...I'm Irish)and the person in the office, registering it spelled it Dearbhl? (the dash over the a is called a fada which means long in irish and the fada itself makes a vowel extra long in Irish...)for years I went around spelling my name Dearbhl?,which essentially spells Dearbhlaaaah. My mother didn't tell me it was a mistake until I began secondary school.
Hey, my parents frequently forget my birthday and age every couple of years. At least they consistently got the wrong date!
And it's all for in my case because I frequently forget their birthdays as well as holidays.
you should give your parents hell if mine did that they would never hear the end of it.
my parents told me my birthday was june 13th but actully it was may 13th we celebrated on june 13th for 17 years when I was getting my passport i had to get my birth certificate and I found out that it was actully my birthday the day I was getting my passport. I didnt tell my parents I went in the room and I asked my dad to over look everything and his eyes went so big and he was like 'SHIT!'
how can your parents possibly forget the day their child was born? &haha #239. [: oh and that suckss for youu.
Well Thats bad FYL.
I Actually never celebrated my Birthday... But it doesnt matter.
At least they celebrate it, but it does sound like they are kinda stupid. I would let them know.
Wow, that's sad. Hope your parents didn't make that mistake over 20 years. If it is, they are sad...
How many days were your parents they off ?? I can somewhat understand 1 day. But, any more than that is just crazy. Have you not written your birthdate down on something and other family members have seen it?? Or were all your family members drunk the day you were born?? JK!
Try to be optimistic.
This would be such a great trump card to use when you might be in trouble.
The same thing happened to my dad, except he didn't find out till he was going on a trip to Canada in his forties.
Birth certificates have a lot of mistakes. My oldest child's birth certificate got our names and the day right, but everything else was completely wrong. Don't be so quick to assume your parents screwed up.
Maybe they are celebrating the day of your conception. They know what day they sexed you up.
maybe you were adopted and they are celebrating ur " Gotcha" day.... thats what my paretns do!
Aww man! That'd SUCK. Celebrating your birthday on the wrong day for 16 years, really, fyl lol XD
what the fuck man this one is stupid. How is this the number one FNL on the site? really? how insignificant is the actual day you were born?? please take this off moderators this should not be number one.
My name is jesus christ and the religion that believes in me has been celebrating my birthday on december 25th but i was really born in November. FNL
You don't hear jesus bitching over the wrong birthday, you can just consider yourself to be in elite company.
My grandma spelt my name wrong on my birth certificate. I've been going around the last sixteen years with a misspelled name.
And it never occured to you that maybe there was a typo on your birth certificate??????
Somehow, I don't think that your mom would forget the day that she pushed you out. I'm willing to be that the birth date was a typographical error on the part of the person who typed it up. It happens more frequently than people realize. My last name has been altered drastically through the past few generations due to birth certificate errors. Even my birth certificate had an error. The form that my mom sent in had an e on the end of my middle name, but that was no e when the actual certificate came in. My mom noticed it, but didn't think it was important enough to have it changed. Maybe your parents just didn't notice the error.
That was kinda funny to read, though I suspect I would?ve gotten really pissed it it was me whose parents had celebrated my birthday on the wrong day for 16 years, or in my case 19 years. However, I do agree with #388.
my dad got my sisters middle name wrong on her birth certificate. It was supposed to be "Claire" but we have been informed its actually "Clare" which is apparently pronounced "klaar"
thats her new nickname
thats sad.i thought my parents were fucked up when they didnt take me out to dinner on my birthday but you topped me.
Hehe, im sorry man but thats funny. at least they didn't forget your name... or to give you presents.
danqq thaSz sO fuCked up man ... i wOnder hOw they fuCken feeL nOw. knOwinqq dhat.

lol dat. heh heh heh, actually my mum always fogets my little sister's birthday, even though it's sept 11th. ah well.
Now that I think about it, I didn't even know where I was born until I recently found my baby photo album with my birth certificate. Turns out I was actually born in Orange County. I don't know how that happened.
